On June 28th, Suzhou National New and High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (SND) held the briefing session on the independent innovation of SND and the promotion session for Suzhou Science and Technology Town in Shanghai, the third large scale science and technology investment attraction campaign after the campaigns in Beijing and Nanjing. '

At the briefing session, a number of projects were to settle down in SND with contracts signed, such as Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Co. LTD. and Compound Material Research Center of Shanghai University etc. Up to now, 32 famous research institutions and design and development enterprises have started their business in SND, such as the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of Information Industry, Suzhou Clean Energy Center of Physics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology, WebEx China Software Co.LTD. and Huanghai Automobile R&D Center etc.
Suzhou Science and Technology Town is the first innovation project co-sponsored by the ministerial, provincial and municipal authorities. As one of the ten major projects of Suzhou in building the ¡°International Emerging City of Science and Technology¡±, Suzhou Science and Technology Town has been included in the ¡°Eleventh Five-Year Plan¡± of Suzhou and Jiangsu Province. It is dedicated to building ¡°three outposts¡±: R&D and the innovation outpost for new and hi-tech products, the human resources outpost gathering various R&D elites, and the demonstration outpost for independent property right transformation and new and hi-tech industries.
After three years¡¯ construction, the accumulated investment in Suzhou Science and Technology Town totaled over 5 billion RMB. Multiple-functioned R&D Tower, independent R&D building and apartment buildings for science and technology professionals as well as the community center of about 200,000 square meters, integrating shopping, entertainment and financial services have been put into use. The eco-leisure resort in the Science and Technology Town is almost in shape. A new Science and Technology Town suitable for residence, innovation and starting business is to be completed.
