Suzhou Research Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology will be set up in Suzhou Science Park. SND signed the contract with Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan on May 11th, 2007. Suzhou Research Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology will set up key laboratories, engineering research centers and post-doctoral stations in the fields of information technology, simulation technology, Laser and optical electronics as well as biotechnology and advanced equipment technology by leveraging the academic, technology, information and talent edges of the university. The research institute will become a continuous education base and one of the country¡¯s top scientific innovation, talent cultivation and hi-tech commercialization bases.

     Since last year, SND has made more endeavors to invite technology-based enterprises to come to SND with promotions in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, aiming at upgrading the regional innovation and competitiveness in science and technology. The new R&D and innovation mechanism combining industry, academics and research is to be improved to focus on application and market-orientated sectors with enterprises at the core. The self innovation and innovation based on importation will be combined to attract more advanced technology businesses and innovation institutions as well as engineering centers from home and abroad on the one hand, and to cultivate private technology enterprises in the park on the other hand. SND has accumulatively attracted more than 80 R&D centers and engineering centers from home and abroad including 20 R&D centers of world-known multi-nationals. At present, more than 600 hi-tech R&D and commercialization programs are undergoing in SND, cultivating a large number of private technology enterprises with their owned property rights.

      Meanwhile, SND has issued a series of preferential policies to attract universities and institutions such as Suzhou Research Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. SND provides not only free R&D bases but also funds for starting. Huazhong University of Science and Technology has received invitations from numerous regions and cities, but it turns to SND as their first choice.
