Suzhou New District is going to celebrate its 15th anniversary. In order to exhibit the achievements made in the past 15 years by SND and to show the harmonious investment and living environment as well as the spirit of residents in SND, Suzhou New District Administration Committee, together with Suzhou Daily Newspapering Group and Xingang Construction Co. Ltd. co-sponsor the “Xingang Cup” Splendid New Suzhou Photograph and Article Competition. The requirements are as follows:
I. General Requirements
Participating photographs and articles, themed as “splendid new Suzhou” should demonstrate the growth of SND in the past 15 years in terms of scientific, initiative and harmonious development; the SND creators’ spirits of united strive and practical innovation; and the harmonious scene of “ new Suzhou, new Paradise”.
II. Specific requirements on the article
1. Neither titles nor styles of the article are limited. The content should be in line with the theme within less than 2000 words. The article should be printed with A4 paper attached with Microsoft Word file. The name, address, working unit, gender, zip code and phone number to contact should be attached to the article.
2. Photograph
(1). In terms of content, participating photos could fall into two categories: news on-the-spot-record and artistic pieces.
The former one includes general news special coverage and on-the-spot photos, displaying the scene of environment, science technology innovation and lives of residents as well as the land-marking scenes such as the opening of key projects and the contract signing of major businesses etc.
The latter, however, show the scene of environment, science technology innovation by different perspectives and from different angles. Photos of this category should feature the photographer’s emotion and taste with strong visual impact and artistic influence.
(2) Forms of photographs
Both single photo and comparison of two photos, no matter it is Colored, black-and-white, digital or film photo. Digital photos should be with the best solutions available to the camera. The photo made from film should be submitted with the negative attached (which will be returned after the contest).
(3) Marks on the photos: Each photo should be attached with title, site of photographing, name, gender, working unit, address, zip code and phone nuber of photographer as well as brief introductions.
3. Documentary photograph
Photos of important historical events in SND for the past 15 years are subjects for collection with prize money promised.
III. Time of collection.
The article and photograph collection will end on August 15th, 2007, according to the post mark.
IV. Awards
1. Sponsors of the contest will organize experts to select winners from collected pieces. There will be 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 8 third prizes as well as a number of participation prizes. Winner of the first prize will be awarded 3000 RMB and 2000 RMB for second prize and 1000 RMB for third prize.
2. Some outstanding articles and photos will be published in supplementary editions of Suzhou Daily and SND. Meanwhile, some of the excellent pieces will be exhibited in the photo exhibition named “Glorious 15 years” , the exhibition celebrating SND’s 15th anniversary.
V. Related issues
1. Sponsors have the rights to publish articles and photos collected in exhibition, promotion or publication while the author enjoys the copyright and right to put the name on.
2. All legal issues concerning the participating works should be taken by the authors themselves.
3. There is no participating fee and all the participating works will not be returned except the negatives attached to the photos taken with film.
4. Sponsors of the contest conserve the final interpretation rights for the contest.
Articles and photographs for the contest should be posted to the following address with electronic versions attached. And the envelope should carry the mark of “Article and Photograph Contest”.
